Dal 4 Giugno 2009 al 15 Settembre 2009 (apertura al pubblico il 7 Giugno) Giudecca 795 Art Gallery ospita nella sala grande l'evento collaterale Biennale "Praise of Nature / Elogio della Natura" dell'artista cinese Liu Zhong - mentre nella seconda sala prosegue fino al 15 Giugno la mostra personale di Cholla il cavallo pittore, idealmente "in Biennale" anche lui.... e un pochino se lo merita! (vedi Wikipedia). Sempre nella seconda sala, siamo lieti di presentare anche una selezione di opere degli artisti da noi rappresentati; vi invitiamo dunque a seguire il percorso espositivo, che si conclude con un saluto nel gift shop con le ultime novità e gli oggetti di design.
Liu Zhong presenta a Giudecca 795 alcune opere recenti su carta di riso e seta, dipinte con il tradizionale inchiostro nero, sul tema del mondo animale ispirate alla celebre Histoire naturelle del Buffon - le cui illustrazioni furono riprese negli anni Trenta da Picasso. Liu Zhong è un artista che ha dedicato gran parte della sua ricerca proprio al mondo animale, visto attraverso una prospettive del tutto particolare e che lo accomuna al lavoro di celebri artisti. Con questi lavori, Liu Zhong intende porre l'accento sulla necessità di un approccio diverso dell'uomo con la natura, tema oggi molto sentito in Cina. Nei lavori di Liu Zhong si evidenzia il suo essere modernamente contemporaneo mentre si esprime su un tema che innegabilmente è sempre stato al centro dell'attenzione per la pittura cinese. Questi lavori di Liu Zhong, nella fedeltà ad una tradizione pittorica millenaria, sorprendono per il loro tono, il loro linguaggio e, a volte, la loro curiosità compositiva e ci traghettano verso una modernità rispettosa di un mestiere, quello dell'artista, che è non solo fatto di immagini, ma anche di idee atte a trasportarci in un contesto sociale in cui si diviene testimoni e tramite della poetica della vita.

From 4 June to 15 September 2009 (opening to the public: 7 June) Giudecca 795 Art Gallery hosts in its main hall the Biennale collateral event "Praise of Nature / Elogio della Natura" by the Chinese artist Liu Zhong - whilst the "personal" exhibit of Cholla the painting horse continues in the second hall until 15 June (Cholla himself is ideally "part" of the Biennale.. he deserves it a little, don't you think). The second hall is also displaying a selection of artworks by our represented artists; so we invite you to follow the exhibition route, ending at the gift shop with the latest novelties and design objects.
Liu Zhong presents at Giudecca 795 some recent works on rice paper and silk, painted with the traditional black ink, about Nature and the animal world, inspired by the famous Histoire naturelle by Buffon - whose illustrations were remade in the Thirties by Picasso. With these works Liu Zhong wants to emphasize the need of a different human approach towards nature, which nowadays is a very important theme in China, which is treated by Liu Zhong as a contemporary artist, opening up a new point of view. The fact that the nature has the property of being a central theme in the Chinese painting tradition is undeniable, especially subjects taken from the animal and vegetable kingdoms. Liu Zhong remains very close to his own poetics root, belonging to the nature kingdom and to a real tale that was born from an inner relation with the world where we live, and with a wonderful and never ending creation. This works of art by Liu Zhong are faithful to a thousand-year painting tradition, they surprise us because of their tones, their language, and sometimes because of their curiosity in composition. They show us a way of being modern that respects the trade of the artist, a trade that is not only made of images, but also by ideas that want to transport us and the artist as well to a social contest in which we are witness and intermediary to the poetics of life.
"Praise of Nature" opens on 4 June at 10 am; opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday 10 am to 6 pm; closed on Monday.
